The Sangam period that followed the Sangam Maruviya period saw the influence of the Chola and non-Pandyan feudal lords. The period in which they lived is called the Dark Ages by historians. Some of the people who lived in this period lived without understanding how to live. It is a human trait to have compassion in the heart of people who feel sorry for the sufferings caused to other beings, relieve the suffering of others. A human being should be a person who feels sorry for the suffering caused to humans and other living beings and should be freed from that suffering. Vallalar is the highest in human nature. Whenever he sees a withered crop, he sings that he has withered. In order to lead the people in good manners, the scholars who are special in virtues have published eighteen books of Proverbs containing various types of good moral thoughts such as patience, kindness, education, discipline, asceticism, non-killing, lifestyle, personal development, royal duties etc. This thesis examines the humanistic characteristics found in these books on the topics of love, kindness and killing.
