Appathurai Muthulingam is a notable Tamil writer known as A.Muthulingam. His origin in the crane of Sri Lanka. He has worked as a Chartered Accountant at the World Bank and the United Nations. He is living in Canada  and travelled to various countries for work. Living in Canada. He is currently a member of the Harvard Tamil Chair. His works contain the pleasures of life in the diaspora. He writes about his daily problems in Canadian life and how he dealt with them in his humorous essay, What Time Is It There?. This article is based on the economic, cultural and biological problems faced by a Sri Lankan writer in the North American country of Canada and his reaction to it.

            அப்பாத்துரை முத்துலிங்கம்  அ.முத்துலிங்கம் என அறியப்படும் குறிப்பிடத்தகுந்த தமிழ் எழுத்தாளர். இலங்கையின் கொக்குவில் அவரது பிறப்பிடம். உலக வங்கியிலும், ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் அவையிலும் பட்டயக்கணக்காளராகப் பணியாற்றியவர். பணிநிமித்தமாகப் பல்வேறு நாடுகளுக்கும் பயணித்தவர். கனடாவில் வசித்து வருபவர். தற்சமயம் ஹார்வார்ட் Tamil Chair அமைப்பின் உறுப்பினராகச் செயல்பட்டு வருபவர். இவரது படைப்புக்கள்  புலம்பெயர் வாழ்வின் சுவாரஸ்யங்களை உள்ளடக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது. கனடா வாழ்வில் அவர் எதிர்கொண்ட அன்றாடப் பிரச்சினைகளையும் அவற்றை அவர் எதிர்கொண்ட விதங்களையும் நகைச்சுவை ததும்ப அவரது கட்டுரை நூலான “அங்க இப்ப என்ன நேரம்“ என்பதில் பதிவிட்டுள்ளார். வடஅமெரிக்கா நாடான கனடாவில் இலங்கையைச்  சேர்ந்த ஒரு எழுத்தாளர் சந்திக்கும் பொருளாதார, கலாச்சார, வாழ்வியல் பிரச்சினைகளையும் அதற்கு அவர் வெளிப்படுத்தும் எதிர்வினைகளையும் (Reaction) அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு இக்கட்டுரை அமைகிறது.
