Mullai Karpu in Anthropological Perspective

All the research that puts forward the departmental discipline of Mullai goes on to record that Karpu is the most talked about in Mullai. Tolkappiyam talks about the grammar and biological background of urchin habitat or umbilical cord formation and how they can be arranged. Similarly, the Sangam literature written with a Tolkappiya background also talks about Mullai’s biology. Be that as it may, this article is based on the twofold theories of  Kalavu Karpu, which explore what is the reason for reminding / instructing Karpu only in the life of a Mullaitivu chief.

முல்லை எனும் திணைசார் ஒழுக்கத்தை முன்வைக்கும் ஆராய்ச்சிகள் அனைத்தும் முல்லை சான்ற கற்பு என முல்லைநிலத்திலேயே கற்பு என்பது அதிகம் பேசப்படுவதாகப் பதிவிட்டுச் செல்கின்றன. முல்லை அகவாழ்வு அல்லது முல்லை நில உருவாக்கம் குறித்துத் தொல்காப்பியம் இலக்கண அடிப்படையிலும் வாழ்வியல் பின்னணியிலும் அவை எவ்வாறு அமையக்கூடும் என்பது குறித்தும் பேசுகின்றது. அதுபோல, தொல்காப்பியப் பின்னணியைக் கொண்டு இயற்றப்பெற்ற சங்க இலக்கியங்களும் முல்லைசார் வாழ்வியல் குறித்துப் பேசுகிறது. இருக்க, களவு கற்பு எனும் இருவகை கைகோள்களை அடிப்படையாக மக்கள் வாழ்வியலில் முல்லை நிலத் தலைவியருக்கு மட்டும் கற்பு குறித்து நினைவூட்ட/அறிவுறுத்தற்கான காரணம் என்ன என்பது குறித்து ஆராய்வதாக இக்கட்டுரை அமைகிறது.
