Abstract
Man's thinking intellect distinguishes him from other living beings. Such intellectual thoughts help the country’s new inventions, technical developments, and progress. We have their genes that laid the foundations for everything from fire, and the wheel, to the invention of computers and artificial intelligence robots that we use today. The Tamils who lived in ancient times had many scientific ideas. Sangam literature can be cited as proof of this. We know that Purananuru is a time mirror that clearly shows the socio-biological structure of the Sangam people. People's life civilization, culture but also scientific events; Poets wanted to inculcate in their songs. The fact that they mostly sang five elements like earth, water, fire, air, sky, and the events that can happen in space with their outer life shows their necessity. One of the Sangam literature, Purananuru covers various topics. Among them, only the songs that express scientific ideas in the first hundred songs are the main purpose of this study. The main purpose of this research is to explain that the Tamils live with sharp scientific thinking and discover many truths, and to know the techniques used by poets as metaphors in their works.

மனிதனின் சிந்திக்கும் அறிவாற்றல், அவனை மற்ற உயிர்களிடமிருந்து வேறுபடுத்திக் காண்பிக்கிறது. அவ்வாறான அறிவார்ந்த சிந்தனைகளே புதிய புதிய கண்டுபிடிப்புகளுக்கும், தொழிற்நுட்ப வளர்ச்சிகளுக்கும், நாட்டின் முன்னேற்றத்திற்கும் உதவுகின்றது. நெருப்பு, சக்கரம் முதலாக, இன்று நாம் பயன்படுத்தும் திறன் பேசிகள், செயற்கை நுண்ணறிவு ரோபோக்கள் கண்டுபிடித்தது வரை அடித்தளமாக அமைந்தது அவர்களின் மரபணுக்கள் நம்மிடம் இருப்பதும் காரணம் எனலாம். பண்டைய காலத்தில் வாழ்ந்த தமிழர்கள் பலவாறான அறிவியல் சிந்தனைகளைக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். இதற்குச் சான்றாகச் சங்க இலக்கியங்களைக் கூறலாம். புறநானூறு என்பது சங்ககால மக்களின் சமுதாய-வாழ்வியல் அமைப்பை வெளிப்படையாக காட்டும் கால கண்ணாடி என்பது நாம் அறிந்ததே. மக்களின் வாழ்வியல் நாகரீகம், பண்பாடு மட்டுமல்லாது அறிவியல் சார்ந்த நிகழ்வுகளையும்; புலவர்கள் தம் பாடல்களில் புகுத்த விரும்பியிருந்தனர். அதிகமாக நிலம், நீர், நெருப்பு, காற்று, ஆகாயம் போன்ற ஐம்பூதங்களையும், விண்வெளிகளில் நிகழக்கூடிய நிகழ்வுகளையும் தங்கள் புற வாழ்க்கையோடு இணைத்து பாடியது என்பது அவற்றின் அவசியத்தை உணர்த்துகிறது. சங்க இலக்கியங்களில் ஒன்றான புறநானூறு பல்வேறு விடயங்களை உள்ளடக்கியுள்ளது. அவற்றில் முதல் நூறு பாடலில் அறிவியல் கருத்தைக் கூறும் பாடல்கள் மட்டும் இவ்வாய்வின் முக்கிய நோக்கமாக அமைந்துள்ளது. ஆழ்ந்த அறிவியல் சிந்தனையை ஏற்படுத்தும் இந்த ஆய்வானது, தமிழர்கள் கூர்மையான அறிவியல் சிந்தனைகளோடு வாழ்ந்து பல உண்மைகளைக் கண்டறிந்தவர்கள் என்பதை விளக்கும் ஆய்வாகவும், புலவர்கள் அக்கருத்துகளை தங்கள் செய்யுள்களில் உவமைகளாகக் கையாண்டுள்ள நுட்பத்தையும் அறிவதே இவ்வாய்வின் முக்கிய நோக்கமாகும்.
