Abstract
The lifestyle of the Tamil people was based on nature. Realizing the scientific techniques in nature's systems, people developed unique theories for it. Palandamizhar had a custom of storing and using the seasonal rains. This process later led to the emergence of water management strategies with a scientific perspective. Water management is an expression of the Tamils who tend to find innovation in everything they do. It is a proof of the knowledge of the Tamil people that they used modern techniques to collect water, build dams, and build canals for irrigation. The Tamils, who have designed their life according to the ecological systems of nature, know the climate change and have taken measures for it. Creation of water bodies, protection of water bodies, water reservoirs, irrigation systems, tree growing, rainwater collection and spraying are the water management methods used by the Tamils. The management methods developed by Tamils are the greatest gift to the scientific world today. It is only because the Tamils realized the indispensability of water that they were able to approach it with visionary thinking and develop management strategies to benefit the society.
