Tolkappiyam is considered to be the first book of five grammars in terms of relevance. The next book written on the basis of category is Veerasozhiiyam. This is an adaptation of the Northern language, so the book is largely unread. The next thing to consider is the Nannool. But we have only two Chapters in this. The next grammar book is a Thonnul Vilakkam adapted from the Tamil tradition. Then there is the Thonnool Vilakkam. After this regime change takes place in Tamil Nadu. It comes under the rule of the Western people. The last two of the five grammar texts that arose at that time were Muthu Viriyam and Swaminatham. This article sets out to compare the Prosodies of the two texts.
